Ministry of Women and Child Development- Within the broad mandate of the Ministry, women, and children should be developed holistically. The Ministry is responsible for formulating plans, policies, and programs concerning women and children; enacting/amending Governments and non-governmental organizations must work together to implement legislation and coordinate their efforts. In addition to playing a key role for women and children, the ministry also implements innovative programs. A variety of programs are covered under these programs, including welfare and support services, employment and income generation training, awareness building, and gender sensitization. Health, education, rural development, and other general development programs can be supplemented and complemented by these programs. The goal of all these efforts is to empower women both economically and socially level so that they become equal partners with men in the national development process.
Women development
Pradhan Mantri Mahila Shakti Kendra- In the new scheme, various levels of participation are envisaged. District and Block level Centres will support MSK and also give BBBP a foothold in 640 districts in a phased manner, while the National level (domain-based knowledge support) and State level (State Resource Centre for Women) will provide technical assistance to respective governments on women-related issues.
Cyber Shikshaa initiative- The growing imbalances in society are often attributed to women, who feel sidelined. Social factors often affect women's employment and work participation. Whether they represent the nation politically or pilot the aircraft, women are considered equal to men today. In addition to being active on digital platforms today, the women's community has also promoted hundreds of techno-based start-ups.
Mahila Coir Yojana- Women artisans in rural areas who produce coir fiber are provided with self-employment opportunities through Mahila Coir Yojana (MCY), a coir industry initiative designed for women. By converting coir fiber into yarn on motorized machines in rural households, large-scale employment can be created, productivity and quality can be improved, working conditions can be improved, and income can be increased. A scheme called Coir Vikas Yojana is being implemented by the Government through the Coir Board.
One-Stop Centre Scheme- As part of the One-Stop Centers initiative, women affected by violence are offered support in private and public spaces, within the family, community, and at work. Support and redress will be provided to women who have suffered physical, sexual, emotional, psychological, and economically, regardless of their age, class, caste, education status, marital status, race, or culture. Women who have contacted or been referred to the CSO and who experience violence of any kind, including attempted sexual harassment, sexual assault, domestic violence, trafficking, honor crimes, acid attacks, or witch-hunting, will receive specialized services.
Meri Saheli initiative- To ensure the safety and security of female travelers traveling by trains from the originating station to the terminating station, the Meri Saheli Initiative was launched. In all zones of the railway, dedicated teams of lady RPF personnel have been formed to implement this program
Child development
Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS)- A unique program for early childhood development, ICDS Scheme is one of the largest in the world. On one hand, ICDS represents India's commitment to the education of her children; on the other, it represents a means to break the vicious cycle of malnutrition, morbidity, and mortality.
