Physically, mentally or psychologically differently-abled people often present as having difficulties functioning normally. Learning disabilities and social difficulties can also be described as deficiencies that interfere with growth and development. The definition of disability is a condition that prevents a child from reaching their complete potential own needs for work, social activities, or any other necessities due to physical or mental deficiency, whether congenital or not.
Physically disabled individuals are those who have one or more of the following disabilities: visual, communication (hearing or speech), or locomotor. There is a growing consensus that describing people as "disabled" does not accurately describe their condition.
Divya Nayan- Visually impaired or illiterate people can use the reading machine to listen to printed or digital documents. The device scans a printed document using a contact line scanner. Using a manual scanner, the user places the device over the printed page and moves it over the document as if reading it. The image is converted into text by optical character recognition, and the text is then converted into voice by text to speech. You can listen to recordings. IoT, portable, wireless, and autonomous, the device can be connected to the Internet. It is capable of providing a seamless reading of multicolumn documents and allows navigation at the page, text, and word levels as you read. Currently, the device supports English and Hindi, but other Indian and foreign languages can be configured in the future.
Besides the internal speaker, the device has a rechargeable battery, USB, headphones, SD card, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth.
Mobile Aided Note Identifier(MANI)- Visually impaired individuals can identify Indian banknotes by their denominations with MANI, a mobile application used in Indian banking. A team of RBI employees developed it.
There are many features of Indian banknotes that assist the visually impaired (colorblindness, visually impaired, and blind) in identifying them, such as intaglio printing and tactile signs, variable note size, large numbers, variable color, monochrome shades, and patterns. Taking advantage of technological advancements, Indian banknotes can now be made more accessible to the visually impaired, facilitating their daily transactions.
Schemes
ADIP Scheme- ADIP's main objective is to provide assistance to needy, disabled individuals in procuring durable, sophisticated, and scientifically manufactured, modern, standard aids and appliances that can make their lives easier, more comfortable, and more fulfilling.
By reducing the effects of disabilities and enhancing their economic potential, we can promote their physical, social, and psychological rehabilitation. BIS specifications must be followed to the extent possible when providing aids and appliances under the Scheme.
Unique Disability ID- "Unique Disability Identity Cards for People with Disabilities" project aims to create a national database of persons with disabilities and provide them with unique identity cards to ensure uniformity of government benefits. Also, the project will provide a more efficient and systematic means of tracking the physical and financial progress of beneficiaries at all levels of the implementation hierarchy, from the village level to the district level, to the state level and the national level.
Deendayal Disabled Rehabilitation Scheme- The government of India’s Department of Disability Empowerment has launched the Deendayal Disabled Rehabilitation Scheme (DDRS) to ensure equality, social justice, equality, and empowerment of people with disabilities. DDRS (Deendayal Disabled Rehabilitation Scheme) was presented to people with disabilities at a regional conference organized by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment's Disability Empowerment Department.
As part of this scheme, disabilities are identified and assisted by Self Help Groups (NGOs) from the schools themselves, so that they will be able to face difficulties in life easily. A person who is disabled can also live a normal life by cooperating with others in different situations of life.
