An Indian citizen over the age of sixty is considered to be a senior citizen under the law.
Anubhav Platform for Retired Civil Servants- This event aims to showcase the commendable work accomplished by retiring Central Government employees during their tenure. As a result, the retiring employee would be satisfied and the remaining employees would be motivated to serve. Also, it would be a good idea to tap into the resources of retired employees for a voluntary contribution to nation-building after retirement.
Artistes Pension Scheme and Welfare Fund- It is the government's intention to establish the "artists' pension plan and the well-being fund" to provide pensions for people with distinguished backgrounds in letters, arts, and other walks of life who are experiencing financial hardship. The scheme provides financial assistance to artists with a gross monthly income not exceeding Rs. 4,000/-(including the income of their spouse) and who are at least 58 years old will fall under Central Quota and Rs. 3,500/- per month will fall beneath the Central-State Quota. Applicants for financial aid must have made a significant contribution to the arts, humanities, etc.
National Awards for Seniors- Senior citizens' legitimate place in society will be strengthened by the scheme, which demonstrates the Government's commitment to them. Additionally, it will provide young people with an opportunity to appreciate the contribution the elderly have made to society and the nation.
Varishta Pension Bima Yojana- VPBY (Vaishta Pension Bima Yojana) provides retirement benefits to people aged 60 and above. LIFE Insurers of India administer the scheme. A year will elapse after its launch.
We will implement the scheme in the current financial year to provide social security for the elderly and protect them against a decline in interest income as a result of uncertain market conditions. The pension plan provides an assured pension based on a guaranteed rate of return of 8% per year for ten years, with a choice of monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, and annual payments.
Features- With this scheme, pensioners receive immediate annuities throughout their lifetimes with the purchase price returned to the pensioner's family or nominated beneficiaries upon their death.
Sankalp Scheme for pensioners- Through the Sankalp, Central Government Pensioners are channeled into meaningful social interventions through their skills, experience, and time. Additionally, it facilitates the selection of appropriate skills and expertise from a pool of volunteer pensioners for use by organizations working in these areas. The government of India's Department of Pension & Pensioners' Welfare has initiated this program.
Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana- Senior citizens who belong to the BPL categories can benefit from the Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana, which provides them with assistive devices for a living. Funding for this scheme comes from the Central Government. The Senior Citizens Welfare Fund is used to cover program implementation costs. Under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation (ALIMCO) is implementing the Scheme.
