Contract Farming- Farmers engage in contract farming when they agree with a buyer to produce and market one or more specific agricultural products under a specific agreement. In most cases, farmers agree to provide specified quantities of agricultural products. Quality standards must be met by the buyer and the products must be delivered at the time specified by the buyer. Buyers commit to buying the product and, in some cases, supporting production, The inputs may include preparing the land, giving technical advice, and providing agricultural inputs.
Minimum Support Price(MSP)- Agricultural producers are insured against sharp declines in agricultural prices by the Government of India through the Minimum Support Price (MSP). On the basis of recommendations from the Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices (CACP), the Government of India announces MSP at the start of the planting season for certain crops. In bumper production years, MSP protects Indian farmers against excessive price falls. In exchange for a guaranteed price for their products, they are guaranteed minimum support prices from the government. Public distribution of food grains and support of farmers from distress sales are the main objectives.
Government agencies may purchase all quantities of a commodity offered by farmers at the minimum price announced by the government in the event of a fall in the market price below the minimum price announced due to exceptional production and an excess of the market.
Operation Greens- Tomato, Onion, and Potato (TOP) crops are being stabilized through Operation Greens in order to guarantee their availability throughout the country without price volatility.
Objectives- By strengthening TOP production clusters and their FPOs, and connecting them to the market, we will enhance the value realization of TOP farmers.
National Agriculture Market (e-NAM)- It creates a unified national market for agricultural commodities by linking all the existing Agricultural Produce Marketing Committee (APMC) mandis together. Through the NAM Portal, APMC-related information and services can be accessed in one place. Commodities arrivals & prices, trade offers for buying & selling, and services for responding to trade offers are included. A market online reduces transaction costs and asymmetry of information while continuing to move agricultural produce through mandis.
